NBA Finals: A Recap & Our Predictions for the Following Weeks.

Western Conference Final

Coming into the series, the Nuggets were favored to win in 4 games. According to ESPN, the odds of the Lakers beating the Nuggets in a 7 game series is 10%. Personally, and also as a Laker’s Fan, I predicted that the team would advance to the finals in 6 games, unfortunately the Nuggets not only defeated the Lakers, they also ‘swept’ them, leaving the score a flat 4-0. With Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray leading the team the Denver Nuggets are now entering their first NBA finals.

Eastern Conference Final

On the other hand, in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat fought a long and tough battle with the Boston Celtics, ending with Miami taking the win in Game 7. In the first three games, the Heat completely dominated the Celtics, starting the series 3-0. However, whilst being on the verge of getting swept, Boston did not give up easily. After game 3, something changed for Boston; they persevered and won three straight games, leading to a 7th and final game. Before game 7, the Celtics were favoured to win the game and were on the road to become the second team in NBA history to comeback from a 3-0 deficit. Unfortunately, Miami hushed the opposing media and the rest of the world with a 20 point win over the Celtics, regaining their position back in the NBA finals.

Predictions

In my opinion, I believe that Miami Heat will win the finals in six games, paving a path for Jimmy Butler to be awarded finals MVP. There may be one or two games where it’s a ‘blow out’ but it is not likely. However the finals will be between two exceptional teams, so tomorrow- either in the crowds, or in front of our screens- we all will get to see how the finals progress for the next two weeks.
